This Spring Gallery 435 return to Slough Trading Estate with "RANDOM!" - a stunning collection of mixed media installations. In this exciting interactive show, 7 emerging artists have come together to tackle the question of causality in the post-modern world.

The artists engage us with philosophical questions about the meaning and significance of everyday chance events. Are we witness or protagonist in these random occurrences? Is our destiny predetermined or can we take a risk in the execution of our freewill? As we wander through the show, we are called upon to interact with the art, rather than merely observe it. Only then can we have a chance of drawing any conclusions, or at least find ourselves closer to defining more pertinent questions!

A number of Gallery 435 shows have taken place in warehouses, reminiscent of the London art show Freeze. However, none have so closely resembled work of the notorious Young British Artists.

Grandiose in scale and ideas, these stunning conceptual pieces require a large venue to show them off in their best light. Similarly controversial to the Y.B.A.'s, the distinctively interactive characteristic of their work sets them apart and shows them to be the natural successors of the 1990's artists.

Typically, installation work breaks the boundaries of conventional art by transforming the way we experience the 3-dimensional space occupied by the art. Yet, rarely are we asked to walk amongst the art, interact with it, participate in it and influence it in such a powerful way. "RANDOM!" breaks down those spatial boundaries, reminding us that art is for the common man, not just the intellectual elite. It is this accessibility and openness of this show that lends itself so appropriately to the Slough audience who are uncompromisingly dismissive of high-art pretensions.

Bridging the gap between Schopenhauer's philosophies and Duchamp's Fountain, Gallery 435 invite you their new labyrinthine warehouse space, courtesy of Slough Trading Estate. Come and explore the random world of the artists mind and the social paradoxes we live our lives in. Take the chance to witness something different. Experience your own post-modern life subverted and re-presented to you in a new and unusual way.
